In this interview, Akshay Kumar revealed how the name he chose for himself was Bachchan Pandey in his film. Akshay Kumar had to be asked about how did he come up with his name Bachchan Pandey in the film and he replied that the name I use for my character in the film is derived from my old film Tashan.

The name was very well-known due to the film. That's why this film got its name after getting approval from director Tashan. The tale of a gangster from UP is told within the movie, and the name fits that character well. Kriti Sanon plays the role of the filmmaker in the Bachchan Pandey's film.
